Artist Gregory Rodriguez grew up in rural Wisconsin. At 59 years of age he has never lost his love for its beauty; a quiet farm scene, the swells of Lake Michigan, or the luscious colors of Whitnal Park Gardens. It's all Wisconsin!
Another love of Mr. Rodriquez's is alla prima painting in studio or plein air. The combination of these two passions are evident in the expressive color and textural quality of his painting.
In 1980 Mr. Rodriguez studied in Minneapolis at the Prohl Atelier. This studio was a branch of the Atelier Lack which taught the Bostonian technique of painting and drawing. These methods originated in France during the nineteenth century. Mr. Rodriquez studied and worked with Mr. James Prohl until his death in the mid-90's. Additional studies at the American Academy in Chicago, not to mention work shops in the Wisconsin area, have proven to be beneficial. This has resulted in a variation of his style from classical to traditional with impressionistic overtones.
